Math-U-See

24.gif
Our goal is to help produce confident problem solvers who enjoy the study of math. The reason we study math is so we can apply what we learn in everyday situations. The students learn their math facts, rules, and formulas, and are able to use this knowledge in real life applications. The study of math is much more than committing a list of facts to memory. It includes memorization, but it also encompasses learning the concepts that are critical to problem solving.

Great "Hands On" Program
The blocks have helped our two children 7 & 9 yrs.

We especailly appreciate the explanations. When you know the 'why' it can help you remember and make sense of what is being taught.

(Example: Do you know what the "ty" stands for in sixty? -- Old English suffix –tig, which means “group of ten.” -- makes sense: 6 tens)

We have only been using the program for a few months but we've noticed a difference.

Math U See
I have twin girls age 12, and they both show signs of dyslexic processing. One of them has a strong influence. I have used Math U See since they were 4 and they took to it like fish in water. Even though we have had many upsets in reading and restarts. Many curriculum changes with her. Math u see has been a consistent go to. Every child should enjoy kinesthetic learning. It is just clear to understand!

Love it!

Love it!
I have 8-year old twins. One with dyslexia, one without. Both thrive with MathUSee. Because it uses manipulatives, they can really "see" what they are calculating. As well, the worksheets are brief and incorporate a spiral approach (for review), so there is no feeling that they are doing any "busy work". I highly recommend this program!

Building solid problem solvers
My two busy boys, ages 8 and 6,are working through their math lessons and really understanding the lessons better because of the blocks. They watch the video, then do their first worksheet of the lesson. I like that there's a solid building on lessons previously learned, but not excessive repetition.

Great for Visual Learners
The Math-U-See program has been great for our two highly visual learners, now 8 and 10 years old. The use of the coloured blocks which go up to 100 provide an excellent visual as well as tactile representation of the maths problems. What I particularly like about this system is that they use the blocks right up to algebra. And the lessons don't stick to the usual progression of simple problems to hard, instead starting the kids on basic algebra even when they are learning simple addition. Maths is no longer this disconnected rote learning of number manipulation. They can see the visual image of their calculations as they go.
