Iowa Guidelines for the Use of Accommodations during Instruction and District Wide Assessments for Students with Disabilities

Both the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004) require the participation of students with disabilities in district standards-based instruction and district wide assessment initiatives.Both federal and state laws require that all students with disabilities participate in assessments. Schools, districts, area education agencies and the state are held accountable for the academic performance of all students
